I decided to try something different. I ran around the town on my usual route which is about 4 miles long and did it in 29 minutes but when I got home I just kept running and repeated the circuit. I felt very lethargic and, to compound my misery, my ham string became quite sore again! Andrew suggested that I just jog home and not make things worse. I did and I think he was right. The weather was superb and we enjoyed some great runs together, including a couple down to the stunning resort of Olu Deniz and its world famous beach. He's a regular gym attender and treadmill uswer but doesn't run outside very often. As with Saturday, I felt great and really flew around the course eventually finishing the 8.5k in 36 minutes 30 seconds which is a PB for me. I needed a good solid week off after the draining heat of Stockholm but I have started again and done about 6 runs since then including my fastest ever 'Town Route' and a good 10 miler yesterday. Covered the 5.5km in 27 mins which is okay given the massive hill at the end of the run. I reckon on a flat route that I could cut that time to 26 mins. Its a nice 10k route but only half of it is lit up, the rest is pitch black except when a car goes by. Its amazing how darkness changes everything.
